First 10K Trail Run!

I did it! Only one fall, and it was in the dirt, thankfully — not rocks! No twisted ankle or hurt wrists so I was able to get back up and keep running.

The run was at a mountain bike park. When I saw the starting line, I noticed that the trail we were running on was a memorial for military members. Their photos lined the trail for miles. The further I ran, the more of an impact it made on me. The photos just kept coming. All ages. Many of them were in their 20s or younger. One was in his fifties. Not having any military affiliation, I can’t imagine the circumstances that they were in but I could only think of their families. Running through a memorial was a strange experience. The life that I felt, the strength, and the struggle. I wondered if whoever planned the memorial meant for it to be that way. To experience the concept of loss and the physicality of being alive at the same time. It made me thankful for what I can do.
